Went with Marsha to see Lynyrd Skynyrd Saturday March 5, 2011. I have wanted to see these guys since their debut album “Lynyrd Skynyrd (pronounced ‘lêh-‘nérd ‘skin-‘nérd)” but never made it. Some of them didn’t make it either. They are remembered.
They put on a great show and I heard all the songs I wanted, except for Swamp Music.
The combination of good weather, Spring Break and a really popular band made for a bigger than usual crowd. Much bigger. I have never seen this big a group for a concert here.
Before the show we saw the Blues Brothers show on Delancey street.
Not John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd, but a serviceable alternative.
The Aretha Franklin character and Jazz, the sax player were great.
Then this quite cute squirrel and little girl outside the Beetle Juice Revue.
Beetle Juice Revue, not too shabby, though the last time I saw this, I thought they actually played instruments.
The singing & dancing were pretty good though.
This was the best view we could get after fighting the crowd for awhile.
That is a projector screen at the back of the main concert area.
There were people behind us all the way back past Shrek 4-D to the lake.
Quite the crowd!
All in all a good day. Had some fun, saw a favorite band that I have wanted to see for years, got home in one piece.
Next week, Foreigner.
